It's finally here! We now have the 2011 Red Hat Society Store Exclusive ornament! We love it so. The background is full of red sparkles, the center spins and it says, "Red Hatters are Friends for Life".

We gave away this beautiful ornament on Facebook and we're gearing up to do another fun giveaway. Fresh New Products for November!

Some exciting new product just hit our warehouse and we wanted to share the news with you! First, we have two brand new holiday cards! You can purchase a 12 pack with both designs included or you can purchase singles. Your friends will love them!

Also, many of you may know that we carry the gold charm bracelet and gold charm necklace with lots of fabulous gold charms to match, but we now have it all in silver! The silver charm bracelet and silver charm necklace are already a big hit and the silver charms are flying off of our shelves.

Chances are that cancer has unfortunately affected us or someone we know. I have many friends that are running or walking for the cure and let's hope that a cure is found soon! Panera Bread is offering delicious pink ribbon bagels this month and they are donating a portion of the sales to cancer research. What a delicious way to support a good cause!

Fall at the Red Hat Society Store

Red Hat Society ladies all over the world are experiencing different kinds of weather, but in Michigan, fall is definitely here. The market is full of squash and temperatures have dropped. Fun activities for this time of year include visiting cider mills for fresh doughnuts and cider, nature walks for watching the changing leaves and getting a last bike ride in.

We asked on Facebook, what kinds of activities society members have planned for October and they shared activities like pumpkin patch visits, cookie baking, parades and costume parties! Sounds like everyone is ready for a month of fun fall activities.

Random Acts of Cookies

Sometimes life can get you down, but you know what will always makes you feel better? Doing something good for others! I came across a blog where a woman was feeling down and decided to do something good. She made treats, packaged them up nicely and dropped them on the doorsteps of her neighbors. The thought of bringing smiles to others helped brighten her day, as well as her lucky neighbors'. Click here to read her story!

Her positive story made me think. Wouldn't this be a great activity for a Red Hat Society chapter? If you have a couple of bakers in the group, they can make the treats, the crafty members can decide on packaging and the other members can plan where the special drop-offs will be! If nobody in the group is into baking, pick up your favorite treats from a bakery or grocery store.

The Red Hat Society is all about spreading joy and making countless people smile. Make someone smile today!

Our College Girls are Leaving!

Natalie and Rose have been helping pack your boxes in the warehouse all summer and we are sad that today is their last day. They are very sweet and good workers, too!

Do you love cracking open a new book? We love it and summer time is our favorite time to get our reading in. Whether you are vacationing or just enjoying a little bit of sunshine at your own home, a book can be a constant summer companion. Oh, the possibilities of a new story!

We asked Red Hat Society members on Facebook what they were reading this summer and we had many great suggestions! The book and movie, The Help, is a popular choice this summer. Some ladies are even attending the movie with their chapter. A fun idea!

Beat the heat!

When the temperature heats up, it's time to start looking for ways to cool down. For me, there's nothing better than an ice cold beverage with beads of condensation dripping down the side. A glass of ice water does the trick, but I like to do something special when I have the ladies over.. Let me share with you some easy ways to make hydration more alluring!

● Add slices of cucumber to a pitcher of water or individual glasses. It's very refreshing and looks like fancy spa water!

● When filling your ice cube tray, drop blueberries, raspberries, grapes or mint in each slot for the prettiest ice cubes.

● Freeze your favorite kind of fruit spaced evenly on a rimmed baking sheet. When they're fully frozen, add them to a plastic bag and store in the freezer. They work like ice cubes, but will not water down your drink.

● I love a good Arnold Palmer. Pour half a glass of iced tea and fill the rest with lemonade. Yum!

● Use adorable and inexpensive mason jars as glasses for your cold beverages.

Hooray For Summer

I love the season's first strawberries, the feeling of grass on my bare feet, holding onto my red hat as a breeze fills the air, and playing outside with the grandkids. Recently I took my love of summer to the next level and had the ladies over for a red hat barbecue! Red gingham table cloths are a must for a picnic and also fit right into our favorite colors. I picked up lovely purple napkins and utensils at the party store to jazz things up.

My husband grilled the burgers and the hot dogs in his red apron, so I could enjoy a great time with my ladies. We put it together on a whim and everyone brought their favorite dish to pass. We had dessert first, but made sure to leave room for the delicious sides and goodies from the grill.

We dusted off the bocce ball set while other ladies dipped their toes in the kiddie pool we keep for when the grandkids visit. We laughed so hard that my voice was almost gone the next morning. I think we'll have to make this a tradition!

Refreshing Summertime Mixed Drink!

Passion Fruit Hurricanes

It's summertime...finally! Now that the humid hot weather is here, a cool refreshing mixed drink makes for the perfect beverage for a summer evening with friends. Whip up these delicious passion fruit Hurricane's for a couple of your closet Red Hat Society ladies and relax in summer's glory. These are easy and so delicious, you'll want to make these again and again. But remember to drink responsibly ladies! You could even make these non-alcoholic sans the rum. Let's not let this summer pas us by, make the most of it and live it up! Here are the simple and yummy ingredients and directions for tasty passion fruit hurricane mixed drinks.

Ingredients

* 2 cups passion fruit juice
* 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
* 3/4 cup lime juice
* 3/4 cup light rum
* 3/4 cup dark rum
* 3 tablespoons grenadine syrup
* 6 to 8 cups ice cubes
* Orange slices and maraschino cherries

Directions

* In a pitcher, combine the fruit juice, sugar, lime juice, rum and grenadine; stir until sugar is dissolved.
* Pour into hurricane or highball glasses filled with ice. Garnish with orange slices and cherries. Yield: 6 servings.

Memorial Day - Cheese & Honey Appetizer!

When I came across this Honey-Drizzled Cheddar Cheese Hors d'œuvre, I knew I had to share it! This delicious appetizer would be the perfect Memorial Day to prepare ahead of time or bring to a party. You'll impress your guests and satisfy their taste buds! After all who doesn't love cheese? Especially when it looks this good. The directions are super simple. I've listed the ingredients and preparation below. I will definitely be making this for the extended weekend we have coming up.

Honey-Drizzled Cheddar Cheese

What You'll Need

2 pkg. (about 10 oz. each) Aged Reserve Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup chopped Walnuts
1/2 cup chopped dates
1 apple, sliced
Your choice of Crackers

Make It

PLACE cheese on cheese board; drizzle with honey.
TOP with nuts and dates.

SERVE with apples and crackers on your favorite decorative dish along with cheese spreader.

Spring Flower Box Cake

Spring is here and the flowers are starting to bloom, even the edible ones. This charming chocolate-chip flower box cake would make the perfect spring time dessert for a weekend get-together, Easter or spring party. Your fellow Red Hatter's will be both impressed and amused at this adorable and clever spring themed cake. This was one of the most attractive and yummy looking cake box cake we've come across. Oreo crumbs make up the flower box soil, and boy does it look realistic. We especially loved the chocolate-cream Pirouette cookies that make up the flower box, those are so delicious.

Red Hat Society St. Patricks Day Rainbow Dessert

Add a rainbow to your St. Patrick's Day with this delicious spin on the classic ribbon gelatin dessert. Cream of coconut creates the creamy layers in these luck of the Irish gelatin parfaits. Whip up this easy and colorful St. Patrick's day dessert for your Red hat Society Chapter this March for a fun and yummy treat. Follow these simple instructions and watch out for sneaky little leprechauns, we hear they're mad about these!

Ingredients

2 packages (3 ounces each) strawberry gelatin, divided

5 cups boiling water, divided

5 cups cold water, divided

1 can (15 ounces) cream of coconut, divided

2 packages (3 ounces each) orange gelatin, divided

2 packages (3 ounces each) pineapple gelatin, divided

2 packages (3 ounces each) lime gelatin, divided

Directions

In a small bowl, dissolve one package of strawberry gelatin in 3/4 cup boiling water. Stir in 3/4 cup cold water. Divide among 12 dessert dishes and refrigerate until set, or pour into a 3-qt. gelatin mold coated with cooking spray and refrigerate until set but not firm, 20-25 minutes.

In a small bowl, dissolve remaining package of strawberry gelatin in 1/2 cup boiling water. Add 1/2 cup cold water and scant 1/2 cup cream of coconut; stir. Spoon over the first layer. Chill until set but not firm, 20-25 minutes.

Repeat six times, alternating plain gelatin layers with creamy gelatin layers. Chill each layer until set but not firm before spooning next layer on top. Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight. Unmold onto a serving platter. Yield: 12 servings.

Cupid’s Lemony Love Potion

Serve up this fruity creamy drink at your next Red Hat Society gathering for a delicious and fun time. Cupid’s Lemony Love Potion is a refreshing and pretty beverage that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day. Let your guests know that this drink is what Cupid himself serves his guests this time of year, it will tickle them pink! It’s very simple and quick to make, for such a sweet and tasty treat.

Ingredients
12-ounce can pink lemonade concentrate
1 cup raspberry sherbet
12-ounce can of lemon/lime soda (we used 7-Up)
Instructions
In a pitcher, mix the lemonade concentrate with the recommended amount of water.
In a separate pitcher, combine the sherbet with 1 cup of the lemonade mixture.
Add the soda, stir, and serve. Makes 3 cups.

Red Hat Society Holiday Recipe

This holiday season surprise your sisters with the cutest and most festive snowmen around, deck them out with red and purple candies to match you and your fellow red hatters. These stylish snacks are sure to impress.

Crunchy the Snowman Recipe
Ingredients

* bag of 8-inch pretzel rods
* 1 cup white chocolate chips
* mini chocolate chips
* orange decorators' gel

* fruit leather (various colors)
* gummy rings
* gumdrops
Instructions
1.To make a batch, melt 1 cup of white chocolate chips in the top of a double boiler.
2.One at a time, dip one end of an 8-inch pretzel rod in the melted chocolate and use a plastic spoon or knife to spread the chocolate two thirds of the way down the rod.
3.Set the pretzels on a sheet of waxed paper and press on mini chocolate chips for eyes and buttons. Use orange decorators' gel to add a carrot nose.
4.When the chocolate has hardened, stand the pretzels in a mug or glass and tie on strips of fruit leather for scarves. For each hat, stretch a gummy ring over the narrow end of a gumdrop and secure it on the pretzel rod with a dab of melted chocolate.
